Defibrillator Familiarisation

We have arranged for the ambulance service to provide a defibrillator familiarisation on 5th December 12.30. The session lasts around 2 hours and covers all the things you need to know, there will be plenty of is plenty of opportunity to practice so that you will know what you should do if the need arises.

Why you should attend – I could quote lots of stats about what a difference you using a defib could make but instead i am going to cut and paste a message from Andy Hirst, a Northumberland paramedic.

” The main issues will always be people feeling like they are scared to start because they are afraid they will do harm. In reality you are their only hope. The ‘chain of survival’ means good early CPR and early defibrillation is the best chance of anyone surviving a cardiac arrest. Anything we do as an ambulance crew is worthless if those two things aren’t addressed. You’ve got up to 10 minutes to make a difference.”

So if you want to make a difference try and get there for the 5th December, 12.30 and get a great lunch too at Warm Space!
